it all happened on a sleepless sunday night when i stumbled across a download link to The Last Unicorn OST link and instantly, the memories just came gushing back, hazy memories and fleeting images of those ageless and magical films you watched when you were like 5 or 6 and they have stuck in your head ever since.
Moments later, i wondered if others around my age or older recalled these films.
hence the birth of this post, to spread the love ... as they say....

1) The Last Unicorn (1982)
(taken from Wikipedia) In an enchanted forest, a unicorn (Mia Farrow) realizes that she is the last of her kind and decides she must embark on a quest to learn what has become of the other unicorns. The Unicorn discovers from the addled dialogue of a butterfly (Robert Klein) that something known as the Red Bull has herded all of her kind to the ends of the earth. Venturing into unfamiliar territory beyond the safety of her forest home, she begins a journey to find them and bring them back.

Notable info : While Rankin/Bass provided the film's dialogue and story based on Beagle's work, the animation was the studio Topcraft. The studio was later hired by Hayao Miyazaki to work on NausicaƤ of the Valley of the Wind, and their core members eventually went on to form Studio Ghibli.[2]

2) Labyrinth (1986)
(from wikipedia) Labyrinth is a 1986 fantasy film, directed by Jim Henson, produced by George Lucas, and designed through the art of Brian Froud. Henson collaborated on the screenwriting with children's author Dennis Lee and Monty Python alumnus Terry Jones. The leads are David Bowie as Jareth the Goblin King, and a teenage Jennifer Connelly as Sarah Williams. The plot revolves around Sarah's quest to rescue her little brother from the Goblin King while trapped in a world that is an enormous fantasy maze. Most of the other significant roles are played by puppets or by a combination of puppetry and human performance. It was shot on location in New York and at Elstree Studios in the UK. It was the last feature film directed by Henson before his death in 1990.

i heard that The Dark Crystal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dark_Crystal) is better but haven't had the chance to watch it.
Anyone out there who may have the DVD? Please lend me!
Anyway, beside the puppetry, it starred a really young and gorgeous Jennifer Connelly who was only 17 then.
And David Bowie was so suave and charming as Jareth the Goblin King in this movie that i started paying attention to his music and stuff after watching this film.
See it for yourself!
He has a low sexy voice and the way he was seducing Sarah in the film to forget about her brother & stay with him was really bua tahan loh!
lastly, more pics from the movie. all pics taken from IMDB.
3) The Flight of Dragons (1982)
(fr IMDB and Wikipedia) A young Boston writer goes back in time into an era where wizards and dragon reign and science is just barely known.. He meets three wizards, two dragons, and the beautiful Princess Melisande (Alexandra Stoddart), who is a Wizard's foster-daughter.

Personally, I din like this one as much as the first 2 but nevertheless was enchanting to me cos of the mediaeval theme and the dragons looked impressive to me then.
SO, which cartoons did you watch when you were really young and can never forget? *winks
